The Good, Bad and Ugly
Hopefully, I'll get to recapping our party in Michigan in the next day or two. But for now, a more brief wrap up.
The Good (or great)
Our trip back to the midwest (Chicago and SW Michigan - Kalamazoo area) was awesome!
My favorite part was seeing Pete and his brother Jon act like kids as a result of not being able to hang out very often. From playing golf together to trying to knock each other off the tubes behind the speed boat to wrestling with the younger kids... they're 30 somethings going on 14.
The Bad
The day before we left, I started sneezing and could tell I was a bit under the weather, but didn't worry about it too much. I figured it would go away with some sleep.
But a few plane rides, early mornings, late nights and having a good time kicked that cold into high gear. I thought I was safe enough to run both Thursday (5 miles) and Friday (10 miles), but that probably didn't do me any favors either.
The last two days of our trip I felt pretty crappy and was downing Vitamin C, advil and cold medicine whenever I could. The flight home with two screaming babies and lots of pressure building in my head was pretty unpleasant.
The Ugly
The Michigan mosquitos apparently think I'm a real catch. I have approx. 20 bug bites on each foot. Hurts like heck.
I'm sparing you the ugly details by showing you the black and white version. In color, it's much worse.
The good on this trip definitely outweighed the bad and I didn't let being sick or having itchy feet get me down. I was still swimming, tubing, jumping into the lake and having a good time even if I did pay for it later. I didn't want to miss out on the fun.
In hindsight, I'm so glad I took today off from work because I've really needed it to get extra rest, unpack, do some laundry and pick up the dog from my parents' house.Grocery shopping is the next thing to tackle on my list. Thank you, manfriend for doing the grocery shopping.
Hope your week is going well! Check back for a recap of the engagement party. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to bed I go!

Attempting a smile as we hop on the blue line bound for O'Hare
