Thankful Thursdays

Yesterday it occurred to me that it might be fun to do a Thankful Thursday post each week in November. This is the time of year when we all tend to get a little reflective on everything and everyone who brings happiness to our lives. Sound good? Want to join me? Post away!

So what am I thankful for this week?

1. My health - my hip is feeling much better and overall I feel pretty balanced with my exercise, sleep and activities. Let's ignore the massive sugar influx.

2. The fall leaves that are sticking around longer than I expected.

3. Peace - I recently found this place of acceptance with the chaos at work. Usually, it stresses me out to the point where I get sick and run down, but I've found a way to understand I can't do it all, but I'll try my darnedest to do what I can.

4. Heat - we finally turned it on (held out until November 1st)! But I'm still opting to sleep in a sweatshirt and pajama pants.

5. Dry bike commuting - it's been a good challenge to force myself to ride to work. The manfriend let me borrow his new panniers so it makes it a bit easier  (no back sweat or weight on your shoulders), but still time consuming.

The running front: I'm keeping my mileage around 25 miles per week. Last weekend the manfriend and I ran 11 miles. They were tough. My legs felt like logs from the beginning, but after running 31 miles on trail, I'm not going to let a little 11 miler stop me. This weekend is our 8 miler and then a little "taper" week before the EWEB Run to Stay Warm Half Marathon.

And of course, I'm always thankful for this guy ^

What are you thankful for this Thursday?

Lauren, I'm glad your hip is feeling better and I was wondering if you could share any hints for taking care of the hips ;)
Hi Scarlett - I've done a lot of specific hip stretching and yoga to try and help the hip out. The best poses have been a deep lunge with the back leg hovering just an inch off the ground (you really feel it in that back leg hip flexor). Also, pigeon pose and lots of hamstring and quad stretching. I need to do more foam rolling.

Additionally, I think that cycling, yoga and swimming are great cross training exercises that can build up those non running hip muscles that need a variety of movements to be balanced.

Great post! I am feeling really thankful for the life that Eric and I have created for ourselves this week as we head off for our weekend in Florida! I really do love my life and feel very lucky :)

I am also thankful for the fall weather, except ours is starting to leave (no pun intended!) with our first snowfall last week!!

I started my 10 days of thanksgiving post series today! And today I wrote about the crazy # of travel opportunities I had this year. It was alot, but most of the trips i was visiting, so I didn't have to pay for anything besides the flight, and then in the later part of the year, most of my fligths were paid for by work! It's been a great, but tiring year!!

Hmm - I'm thankful for finishing the NYC Marathon, for the "RC" (running coach) introducing me to the amazingness of an americano with mocha, and this ice cream cookie sandwich I'm eating right now...

I like a Thankful Thursdays posts! My friend, Ali, who blogs at aliontherun does it every week - its kind of cool to read each week!

I'm so glad your hip is doing better! I'm thankful that I'm able to run some again and that I get to spend the weekend hanging with my partner!
Good news on all fronts! A little sugar influx didn't hurt anything ;)

Your fall leaves are gorgeous - ours are sticking around, too, and I have never been so infatuated with this season. In the sunshine, it's incredible.

Hope you and the manfriend enjoyed the 8 miler!
