Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas (eve) to all of you celebrating! I left our rental house early this morning for a gorgeous (but frigid) 5 mile run along the river path here in Sunriver (just outside of Bend, OR). Sunrise really is the best time for a run. There's something about a sunrise that is not only breath taking, but hopeful and inspiring.

We are packing up and heading back to my parents house today to do Christmas Eve with my grandparents and other family members and then stockings and brunch tomorrow morning. I may not be a kid anymore, but stockings still are one of my favorite parts of Christmas and Christmas Eve always seems magical.

Last night, I baked this cranberry, lemon & basil brie for us to snack on. It was a tasty combo, easy to put together, and none of the flavors were too overpowering.

What is the most magical part of your holidays? And your favorite Christmas recipe or dish?

Hope you guys had a fun time in Central OR. We thought about seeing if you wanted to meet up with us for a beer on Saturday when we were in Bend, but figured we better not butt in on the family weekend. Merry Christmas!

The pictures from your run are gorgeous! Looks like you all had a wonderful getaway! I think the most magical part of Christmas is seeing it through the eyes of my nephews. They get so excited and that excitement rubs off on us adults. My favorite Christmas treat is either the peanut brittle or toffee candy that my mom makes each year (which I ate WAY too much of!).
