The things we do for training.

I gave blood yesterday. I told the lady that no, I wasn't doing any strenuous exercise within the next 24 hrs (lie). I went to a 720pm showing of Gran Torino so I could get home for an earlyish bedtime. I had six hours of sleep last night. I set my alarm for 6am on a Saturday morning, a day I don't have to go to work. A time that is earlier than the time I wake on a work day. I shoved on my spandex, body glide and kicks all to eat peanut butter toast (hey, i checked the recall list, my brands weren't listed so I'm taking a chance) so it would settle within an hour so I can get my run on. With an 11am mimosa brunch scheduled with a few girlfriends to celebrate one of their birthdays, it requires my almost three hour run start at the ass crack of dawn. And that friends, is why it's not even 7am and I'm blogging. The things we do for training (or our friends).

Do any of you do anything crazy in the name of training and attempting to fit it into your life beyond the pavement?

Happy Weekend!

Not quite that crazy but I did get up at 7 am this morning (45 minutes later then I get up on week-days) to get to the gym for a 5-mile run, because I have to bus it to the gym and back the whole thing takes up about two hours of my time. I also ate peanut butter toast before my run this morning, I've had the same jar for like four months so I think I'm good to go!

Hope your run went good and enjoy your brunch!

You might want to avoid all peanut butter for a while. I ate a Larabar Peanut Butter Cookie bar two weeks ago, which originally wasn't recalled. Now it has been recalled, and I realize that all the symptoms of my weird illness last week match those of salmonella! Could be paranoia on my part, but I think I may have eaten some tainted peanut butter...
True true, Laura. I was thinking on my run that it's prob better to be safe than sorry. After all, it's just a $4 jar of pb I need to replace.

The peanut butter recall so far was only for peanut butter type flavoring that they put in things like Lara bars, cliff bars etc. There are a few other things. For the most part, regular old peanut butter is just fine. I know that Smuckers brands didn't to any business with the factory in question, so jif, adams and a few others are definitely okay.

Perhaps better to be safe than sorry, but I'm eating my adams.

Hmm... I have changed weekend plans before, definitely. however, I've been a little more, "flexible" ?, with my training schedule lately. Like, yesterday should've been a long run. But after a night Out on Friday, I knew that wasn't gonna happen. Sooo....today instead. :) HUGE props to you though. Sounds like you're doin awesome!

Nope maybe that's why I suck at training.

Wow, are you training for a marathon? Last year I ran in a 10 mile race, but I would like to run a marathon someday. Nice blog by the way. I found you on 20sb. I love that site!

You are crazy. But crazy in the coolest, most adorable way : ) Running before a mimosa brunch, at 6 AM on a Saturday; I'm seriously impressed!
I think all runners have to have just a little bit of crazy in them, ya know?? And running a marathon takes an extra special dose to get you through 26.2 miles.
