You Win

You know, I feel like this happens more than I'd like to admit. Just when I think I'm feeling back to normal, BAM, I'm sick again.

Yup, I spoke too soon.

I woke up this morning sounding like a raspy frog and feeling like balloon was taking over my head. Not exactly how you want to feel at 6 am as you do yoga, walk the dog and try to get ready for work.

I debated staying home all day, but I had a 10:30 am meeting I didn't want to miss so in I went at 8 and then back I came around 12:30.

I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW I've said this way too often, but sometimes the body is just screaming at you to slow down and when you don't it does it for you.

It's too bad that it's not more socially acceptable to take wellness or mental health days. Just saying...

On a typical week, it's not like I'm doing a million things besides work, exercise and preparing meals. We don't go out very often and I don't have a ton of evening events to attend.

But our weekends, I pack them to the brim. Especially during the precious eight or so weeks of summer we get here in Oregon. I just can't seem to find enough moments to get outside and do something "summery." Oh and that whole marathon training thing...

Alas, here I am, sitting on my couch with a throbbing head looking outside at the sun bleached yard and all I want to do is go running. And of course, that's the last thing my body wants to do. So there, body, you win...today.

I am sorry to hear that you are sick. :( Definitely take it easy and listen to your body. I know that is easier said than done, though... I am hoping I do not get sick, but feel like it may happen as I am running myself ragged these days between busy weekends, packing my week nights with social events/get togethers with friends, and being over-tired from marathon training... I haven't been sick since I had my sinus surgery so am crossing my fingers and hoping I stay healthy this whole training cycle!
It sucks that you are sick! It is hard to listen when your body tells you to slow down, especially when you have a training plan PLUS summer weekends! I am having a hard time getting motivated to run lately, since there are a million other (fun) things to do! I hope you Get Well Soon!

It's much more common for people to regularly take personal/mental health days up here than it is in the States. So it seems from what people say on twitter and blogging anyways! I would never hesitate to take a day off if I wasn't feeling well or was starting to burn out!! I hope you feel better asap - let yourself REST lots!

Feel better soon! I hope you can convince yourself to take it easy for a few days and get some rest.
I've thought about this so much! "It's too bad that it's not more socially acceptable to take wellness or mental health days. Just saying..." Does 2 or 3 weeks of vacation really make sense to anyone?! It's crazy to me that companies don't see the benefit in granting more days off; mental breaks, if nothing else.

Hope you feel better soon!!

I hear ya on missing out on the (rare) sunshine. I've been slightly stewing in the fact that I've been sidelined during the prime extended daylight hours. Soon enough it's going to be winter again! :b
The body is right! You have to rest sometimes :) I love my rest days because I stretch a whole ton and always feel 1000 times better the next day to train 10x harder! Love and Shine CourtStar
